Pursuant to § 40 (1) of Estonian National Broadcasting Act (Eesti Rahvusringhäälingu seadus) broadcasting organizations Eesti Televisioon (Estonian television) and Eesti Raadio (Estonian radio) merged into Eesti Rahvusringhääling and Eesti Televisioon and Eesti Raadio ceased to exist as independent organizations since 1st June 2007.
ERR higher body is Broadcasting Council, named by the parliament. Estonian National Broadcasting Act from 18 January 2007 regulates its actions.
Eesti Rahvusringhääling, a legal person in public law, is a legal successor of Eesti Televisioon and Eesti Raadio, thus assuming all rights and obligations of Eesti Televisioon and Eesti Raadio. ERR is the member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) from June 2007.
ERR's Chairman of the Board is Margus Allikmaa.
